Volunteers

STUDENTS

SLA students contribute a minimum of 5 hours per month of community service to build leadership skills by taking civic responsibility. We encourage students to find an area that they enjoy so that they can take pleasure in their service. Hours can be accumulated through formal or informal arrangements that benefit the community without compensation . Some examples are working at the library, shelters, youth groups, trash collection or helping an elderly neighbor. Hours directly or indirectly benefiting the family or persons in relationship with them, do not count (i.e. babysitting at home, working at a relative's business, etc.)

PARENTS

Parents are required to contribute a minimum of 2 hours per month to the school. Attendance of the monthly Parent Council meeting or in any other capacity that supports the school counts towards service hours. Donations of needed items or cash also count at a rate of $15 per service hour.

PALS

Remember - you must be PALS approved for any participation with students. Call the office for information on how to become PALS approved. It's simple, but is absolutely necessary.

RECORDING AND SUBMISSION OF SERVICE HOURS

Volunteer forms are available to download or at the school office to record service hours. Hours must be submitted to Mrs. Cindi in the media by the fifth of the following month to be credited.
