The mission of Student Leadership Academy has always been to instill in our students the values of scholarship, leadership and service. For this reason, we are proud to announce that we have joined forces with the National Center for Community of Caring. This organization was founded by Eunice Kennedy Shriver and represents the five pillars of caring, respect, responsibility, trust and family. The focus of this partnership is to raise student awareness of the five components at school, as well as in the Venice community and beyond. You will be hearing the words caring, respect, responsibility, trust and family often as the students of SLA learn to act out these concepts daily.

One way that you as parents/guardians can enhance the five pillars of the Community of Caring is to mention these words positively at home and discuss examples as they arise. Also, part of the parent involvement is taking an online survey to give the Community of Caring organization your feedback. We realize that this concept is new to SLA and to you, but please go online to http://www.surveymonkey.com/ and answer the questions to the best of your ability. We need parents to complete this survey in order to fulfill our obligation to the CoC organization. You may complete the survey at home or come into school and use the computer in front.
