THE STUDENT LEADERSHIP ACADEMY OF VENICE
SCHOOL UNIFORM POLICY


Student Leadership Academy embroidered polo shirts are to be worn. Shirts must fit appropriately. Skin tight or overly large shirts are not allowed. If a shirt is worn under the uniform shirt, it must be solid red, white, navy, or black.

Navy or khaki uniform shorts, skorts, or pants are preferred. Also allowed are navy or khaki shorts or pants in similar style and length. Shorts must be at least fingertip length. Skin tight, gangster style, or low rider pants or shorts are not allowed. Cargo shorts/pants may have only one cargo pocket on each leg. Girls may wear Capri pants but they have to be navy or khaki.

Studded belts are not allowed at any time.

Only plain red, white or navy blue sweatshirts are allowed. Sweatshirts may be hooded or non hooded, zippered or pullover.

REMEMBER:  Only solid red, white, or navy sweatshirts will be allowed.  As an alternative, the Builders Club has received approval from the governing board to make available an SLA sweatshirt.  Sweatshirts will be sold for $35.00 and PE shirts will be sold for $6.00 by the Builders Club starting August 16th, from 1-3pm at the Open House.  The sweatshirts are top of the line 10 wt. hooded sweatshirts.  They are available in red white or navy and have double embroidered letters reading SLA.  Samples of each color are shown below.

Uniform violations will not be tolerated. Students will receive a verbal warning for the first violation, a written uniform referral for the second violation and parents will be phoned and required to bring an appropriate uniform to school for the third violation. Student will also lose Fantastic Friday privileges for the third violation. Subsequent violations will result in in-school or out of school suspension.

Casual days will be based on compliance with the uniform policy. If a total of 10 uniform violations are given in any month, casual day will be cancelled.

Prohibited Items on School Grounds

Electronic devices (excluding cell phones for emergency purposes) are not allowed at school.

Cell phones are to be in the student’s book bag at all times and only used for emergency purposes.

Other Important Policies

Transportation arrangements need to be made in advance prior to the start of the school day.

Telephone calls made home to parents or family members are to be made only through the front office.
