Sports Overview

SLA is a member of the Florida Gulf Coast Athletic League comprised of nineteen private and charter middle schools located in Charlotte, Sarasota, and Manatee counties. SLA competes in intramural sports during the school year starting with flag football in September, basketball in November and soccer in January. Practices are conducted after school at Well Field Park in Venice for football and soccer and at the school for basketball. Games are comprised of home and away venues with an average of ten games being scheduled for a season. Schools will compete against other schools only in their division unless they achieve play-off status.

Try-outs are open to any grade level and information regarding time and locations will be posted prior to the beginning of each season. Sports program expenses and equipment are provided to players free of cost with the exception of personal items such as athletic shoes, socks or shin guards.
