Builders Club

If you want to make a difference in your life and community, check out Builders Club. Last year, more than 45,000 middle and junior high school students around the world were involved in this Kiwanis-family program, developing leadership skills while working with friends to help others in need.

SLA Builders Club members participated in many service projects. They collected can openers for the All Faith Foods Bank, books for a local nursing home, money for UNICEF, and hats for cancer patients. They also participated in Relay for Life and raised over $5000 for the American Cancer Society.

We meet before school, from 7:00-7:30 a.m. the first and third Wednesdays of each month.

Relay for Life is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Relay is a community event that gives participants and guests a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at the Venice Airport and take turns walking around the track. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relay is an overnight event, beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday and ending at noon on Saturday.

The SLA Builders Club has sponsored a team for the past 5 years.
