Mrs. Amy Grim is enjoying her 4th year at SLA teaching her favorite grade and subject - 6th grade math. Amy received her Bachelor of Science degree in cellular biology from the University of South Florida in 1999.

After working in the medical field for many years, Amy became a stay home mom returning to the workforce when her children began attending school in Sarasota County. Amy furthered her education by obtaining her professional certification for math grades 5 -9 and Exceptional Student Education (ESE) grades K-12. During her free time, Amy enjoys spending time fishing and boating with her husband Mike, and children Hannah and Cole.

Marion Finklea (Huber) graduated from University of South Florida as a Communications major in 2004. After graduating from USF, she spent a semester abroad in Italy studying art, history, and Italian. Marion had been to Italy on a water coloring tour while still attending USF. The opportunity to study in Florence and travel throughout Italy was an opportunity not to be missed.

Marion is a product of the Florida school system, she graduated from Northeast High School in Pinellas County. She was a member of the St. Petersburg Aquatics Swim Team, and swam competitively from third grade through high school. Marion also coached for the summer swim league for the City of St. Petersburg while she attended USF. She worked as an Instructional Assistant in English at St Petersburg College prior to moving to Venice, FL. Marion is currently working on her Masters in Reading. She is excited about being part of SLA and the sixth grade team.

Mrs. Davis graduated from the University of South Florida in 2007 with her B.S. degree in elementary education. She has lived in Florida all of her life and is a product of the Sarasota County School system! Sarah graduated from Venice High School in 2001. This is her third year at SLA.

She is certified in Exceptional Student Education grades K-12, Elementary Education grades K-6, Middle Grades Integrated grades 5-9, is ESOL endorsed, and currently working on her gifted endorsement. Mrs. Davis has three children ages 7, 5 and 2.

Mrs. Carey was born in Honduras and is bilingual. At a young age, her family moved to Florida where she began attending Sarasota County Schools. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and is certified in Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum grades 5-9 and Spanish K-12. She began her career at Taylor Ranch where she worked with ESOL students and often translated between school and families.

She is married and has two children. Her 14 yr old son recently graduated from SLA and her daughter is 9. She enjoys working with children and is happy to be part of the SLA family as a Social Studies and Spanish teacher."

Mr. Bonnell moved here from New Jersey in 1983. He is married with three sons. His wife is an LPN. His oldest son is a Gunnery Sergeant in the Marine Corps. Son number two lives in Wisconsin marketing cheese ingredients. Son number three has just finished his active duty with the Marine Corps and now attends Ohio State. He has an incredibly intelligent American Bulldog named Opha Mae Johnson.

Prior to earning his degree at the University of South Florida, Mr. Bonnell worked on Fords for twenty-six years specializing in electronics, engine performance, and transmissions. In his spare time he reads and trains for marathons.
